I make art and machines.

I'm Shilpa, an electrical engineer and creative generalist. I've built electronics and software for harsh environments (space, snow, marine, operating room) at Opal Electronics, SpaceX, Arc Boats, Type III and Vena Vitals. I designed a wireless electromagnetic endoscopy at UCLA. I'm currently working on human-computer interaction at Opal.

Near Field 3-Axis Chamber

Built a CI test asset to test satellite beamforming performance. Industrial automation, PLC programming, motor control, RF validation.

Arc Boat Company

226 kWh Battery Test System

Designed a high-voltage test system to validate battery safety using Linux/CAN/OpenHTF/Python.

Furniture

MIG welded a brutalist steel chair. Built a redwood record player stand with driftwood pulled from Mendocino river. Built a live-edge redwood desk with a ceramic inlay.

Music

ESSAR

Recorded, produced, and mastered an album to formalize several lifelong musical ideas. "ESSAR by SHILPA" on every platform.

Alongside my engineering career, I occasionally take on consulting projects through my independent practice BOSSA. I design spaces, brand identities, art installations and engineering portfolios for various clients. I have a range of electronics, fabrication, and design skills.
